I was so excited about my appointment with NP Jennifer, but little came of it. I arrived with my two-page letter at the ready, but she came in and she had her own agenda. In the end, however, her agenda was very satisfying. Most importantly, she read to me from a five-page memo from Dr. Chen, and everything he said made me feel that I am in good hands.
Dr. Chen referenced possible occlusions in my coronary arteries, or plaque as potential causes, and plaque has been what I’ve been blaming. I did not know about occlusions, but that could explain my problem as well. Both occlusions and plaque are treatable, and that is the good news. The more challenging news is the correction requires heart surgery.
Now I just wait for January 27th for my echocardiogram, and for February 5th and sixth when I get the MIBI scan. MIBIs are stunning and incredible diagnostic tests. I was gobsmacked by my first one, over thirty years ago. I have absolute confidence that these tests will reveal the cause of my problem. I’m glad that time passes quickly for me.
The rest of the day went by in a blur. More and more of my days are spent napping or getting back into bed and sleeping. Sleep is an escape, and it also helps me gain strength. Yesterday was bright and sunny and so we walked in Elder Cedar, but the rain made the stream running through the park a roaring river. The stepping stones I normally use to cross it were under water, so both Sheba and I crossed on a fallen tree. I was scared to death of falling in the cold water.
It’s very wet again today. It’ll start getting dark at 15:00, but I don’t care because I will be reading by the fire.
