Just Another Day

At 11:00 yesterday morning, the sky cleared, so I was back at work in the yard. And—miracle of miracles—I got a good start on the wasteland. I have a feeling that I’m going to seed it with grass come Fall. I have the Summer to work on it and to think about what I want to do.

I’ve landscaped almost the entire yard, but I’ve always had a front yard and backyard wasteland. The one in the backyard bothers me because it’s in my face every day; the front yard unfinished land is an effective screen between my house and the street, so it doesn’t bother me.

It got hot and muggy in the afternoon, so I quit working early, had a bath and then did some reading. Dwight called a couple of times and, as we always do, we were instantly into interesting conversations. He says that he and Laura and, perhaps, their daughter Natalia, will come visit now that the health boundaries are open.

And Steve, my ex, is very keen to visit if the US/Canadian border is opened. He wants to come in August and there is a possibility it could happen. There is a chance the border will be opened as of July 21.

Today will pass quickly as I have so much to do. The gardens need water and the lawns need mowing, plus I have a brunch date with Jay at the Firetruck food truck in Silva Bay late this morning and a Zoom call with theatre friends at 2:30.

It’s a beauty of a day and predicted to be hot.
