Dianne sent me this photo of me taken in 1972. Hair! And my teeth look young! I didn’t know teeth could have a look. And I loved that tie-dyed shirt. I wore it out. And that’s a huge bag of marijuana shake (which has no value either monetarily or as an intoxicant). It’s so fun for me to see my young self. Don and Connie Tyrell never took photos of me or of anything, so having this photo is a real treat.

Well, our mid-day walk was exceptional. I wanted to keep walking all afternoon, I felt so, so good being outside and wandering through the 707 Park on a trail I don’t often use. Lots of bikers and walkers were on the trails because it was a very balmy 15°. After an hour of walking, however, walking all afternoon was out of the question. My foot was killing me. But what a wonderful, uplifting walk we had.
When we came home, I stayed off my foot so that the swelling would settle down. I was very keen to take another walk in the later afternoon. It wasn’t sunny, as it was all morning, but what a day it was! Today is likely to be as nice and tomorrow may be even better. Then the rains return.
I watched gardening and cooking videos on YouTube between our morning walk and lunchtime. I’m learning about composting, pruning and mulching, and I watched several videos about making soups, scones, and cold and complex salads. I’m already looking forward to Spring even though it’s a long, long way off. I’m going to buy some compost and spread it around my beds. I may do some composting tomorrow. And the cooking videos really get me excited—especially the ones about breads.
I’ve been watching The Gold on PBS on Sunday nights. It’s a dramatization of the incredible Brinks-Mat robbery in the UK in 1983 when robbers stole £26 million pounds worth of gold. I was surprised to be drawn into it, but I found it fascinating to learn all the robbers had to do to keep the gold. Well … Yesterday I discovered that both seasons of The Gold are available for free viewing on CBC Gem. I’ll be starting season two tonight.
I was due at Kris and Steve’s at 17:00. I was on time, and I was thrilled to be there because I hadn’t seen my friends, The South End Mob (Kris, Steve, Stacy, and Nancy) in a long, long time. We had a total blast together. Right from the get go, we were laughing and telling stories. We are wonderfully compatible, and it’s always a joy to be together. Of course, I drove home at about a hundred miles per hour. I am always so keen to get back home and reunited with Her Highness who dances, jumps and smiles like a drunk when I open the door.
Today has dawned clear and mild. We could be in for a beauty of a day and if we are, Sheba and I will go for three walks, and for the rest of the day I’ll do whatever I want to do.
