Personal Voice on iPhone!!

Merry, Merry Christmas!!!

Sunday flew by. We began our day with a walk. It was not raining, sunny and cold. Then we did some grocery shopping before going on another walk to tire out Sheba because she had to wait for us in the car while David and I had lunch together at Ground Up. Then we came home for the afternoon to chill until our afternoon walk.

We went for a long afternoon walk, and we got home just before the rain began. We had just an hour and a half at home before we left for The Surf for dinner. We were the only people in the lodge. It was weird, but it was also lovely. We sat right beside the fireplace and the server was handsome and lovely. I bought us a bottle of Prosecco to have, and David bought us our dinner. It was really lovely. Then we came home for a bit of television before bed.

For Christmas, I got relief from constant pain in my eye. Sunday was my first day of never wearing a patch. I’m so relieved that the pain is gone. It’s still blurry and milky to look out of my left eye, but I don’t care if it doesn’t hurt. Come January 19, I’ll know if the vision clears when I go to the optometrist.

Today, we’ll make a roast for dinner and we’re having lots of veggies with it and I’m making fresh blackberry ice cream for us for dessert.

Merry Christmas my friends!!!

A Beautiful Day to Explore

I watch Ethel constantly. I am always worried that she’ll have another seizure. It’s so weird: me, plagued by seizures, worrying about Ethel’s seizures. My poor baby girl is a constant source of concern, but she seems fine. She’s leading her life as she always has.

At 9:15 David, Sheba and I left to walk with our friends. The sky was overcast but bright and it was not raining, so the walk was lovely in warm wonderful temperatures. And then we came home, and I had lunch. David did not eat because he was sick through the night Thursday night. Then we chilled a while before heading out for a bit of an adventure on a beautiful day.

We went first to Twin Beaches. David was terribly impressed because he loves ocean swimming and these two beaches, on either side of an isthmus, are both sandy. We walked around both beaches, but the tide was too high to walk on the sand. After a nice romp with Sheba there, we went to the north end of the island. David loved seeing The Surf and all the homes overlooking the ocean.

Then we went to Malaspina Galleries where he was thrilled by both the galleries and the ocean access. We walked the whole area, which is not very big, and then went into the village to go to the hidden meadow that I love so much. He really liked the meadow; we walked all around it, and then we came home for dinner and a movie.

He ate supper. He was feeling much better, and he went to bed early. I succumbed not long afterwards. Here are some photos David took over the past few days.

Wonderful Walks Together

Thursday was really lovely. Sheba, Paula, David and I began the day with a walk to and along Sandwell Beach. Paula had been there before, but David was gobsmacked by the site. It was lovely and mild and there was no rain, but it was a darkish day. Following our walk, we came home for lunch and a rest.

Next came a visit to Drumbeg. Again, David was awestruck by all he saw. I enjoyed showing him the bark of some Gary Oak trees and he loved seeing the beaches. He loves to swim in the ocean, and he now is keen to come in Summer so he can go swimming at both beaches. When we got back to the car, we took Paula to the seaplane for her trip home.

David and I came home, and I made some cookies before joining Ethel on the chaise to chill for a while before Sheba, David and I went to Eoin’s and François’ place for dinner. I was really happy David was meeting them and Jay, as these wonderful men are so important to me.

Our dinner was fabulous. François made tourtière and maple syrup pie—two Québecois staples that were delicious. By 9:00, I was in pain in my eye and really tired, so we came home and went directly to bed. I was wakened in the night because poor Davey was sick. I reckon he had food poisoning, the poor guy. He was going from both ends and Sheba was most upset.

Today, our first without Paula, we plan to take life easy. David is feeling fine now, so we may go to The Surf for lunch, and we’ll go shopping, but the rest of the day will be slow and soft.

Total Compatibility

Wednesday was a lovely day. Paula and David are, as I knew before they came, the most compatible of people. There isn’t a molecule of stress between us. It’s been wonderful. Tuesday night, I could barely speak. I could only function one syllable at a time. Last night, I was fluent most of the time.

David came with Sheba and I to join our friends to trail walk, and then I came home to fetch Paula and David to go shopping for groceries. When we came home, Paula and David went for a walk, and I had a nap on the chaise. When they came back, we had snacks and we watched Escape to the Country. Paula and I love the show and David, being from the UK, has lots to say about both the program and our view of England.

I made a stir fry for dinner, and then we watched a movie. I wore a patch over my eye all day. I am sick of having a sore eye, so I wear the patch. It’s weird at times. I tried to light a candle from a burning candle and without depth perception, it was a mighty challenge.

Tuesday night I had a very physical seizure, and it lasted quite a while. Last night, I had another one that lasted even longer, but it wasn’t quite as violent. Even with people whom I’ve known for decades and love, people with whom I’m 1,000% comfortable, I seize.

The good news: They did nothing. I have no idea what they were doing while I was seizing, but when I came out of it, they were calm and unconcerned. They knew I could handle things, but they asked if I felt okay. It’s an ideal response to my seizing: staying calm and letting my seizure play out. And no one touched me. I prefer that.

Paula leaves today and tonight, David and I go to Eoin’s and François’ place with Jay to have dinner together.
