Idiotoons of the Week

Cipralex: It’s time.

I felt betrayed and defeated late Friday afternoon.
I’d decided against daily drugs. I felt I was doing too well. But then late yesterday afternoon I joined Larry, Allan and Camille at the Sylvia for drinks. They had invited three friends who joined us and, unfortunately, I had a total meltdown.
The incident felt like a huge regression. One minute I was laughing and having fun with Allan and Camille and then four other people arrived and I quickly lost my ability to talk and started having seizures.
It’s terribly frustrating not having any idea why these incidents occur. Without understanding why things happen, what am I to learn from such an incident?  I went to a party of as many people at Christmas and it was fine— perhaps because I knew all the guests and it was in a home I’d been to before.
Did I have my meltdown because the newcomers were strangers? Is it because the bar was too busy and full of people? Allan and Larry had to drive me home. I went to bed at 9:30, exhausted from the ordeal, and had a very deep sleep.
Obviously I will talk to Dr. Shoja about what happened on Tuesday. In the meantime, the incident has convinced me to fill my prescription and to start Cipralex today. It’s time.

Loving Re-Writing

Thursday morning I was up and at my desk shortly after four am. I worked on my script without interruption until one thirty in the afternoon, at which point I took myself out for lunch to celebrate finishing draft 1-A. I partied down with some French fries. Wahoo! Then I wasted my afternoon and evening coasting on the energy of having done the draft.
Thursday night I was watching TV and became disturbed by a sound so I muted the volume and realized that the sound was coming from my windows. When I looked outside I saw that hail was blizzarding against my wall of windows.
Now it’s Friday and it’s cold and dark but all the hail is gone. I’ve started on draft 1-B. It will be the last draft I do alone and the one I’ll send to Boca. I have very few plans in the days ahead so the re-writing should progress quickly. Then its back to making dresses while I wait to hear if I win the residency.
I love doing re-writesI love it because I know I am making it better. If I have time, I’ll go over it twice before Boca gets it. I love turning Charlotte, Hamish and Royce from functionaries and spokespersons into people. I need to add some warmth and humour. It’s too dry right now.

DRAFT ONE: In the Can 🎭☀👍

Wednesday began as a slumber party for one (and a cat); I could not get on my feet. I had a slow wander along the False Creek seawall home from a lunch with a long-time friend and former boss — David. Walking for Chris.2 is substantially different than it was for Chris.1; I walk slower and for shorter distances. Errands and cleaning filled the rest of my day-off from scriptwriting.
I have finished draft 1-A of A(r)mour: The Defiant Dress - the play!
Add to that the fact that I’ve finished seven of the twelve dresses I need for A(r)mour: The Defiant Dress – the exhibition, and you realize why I took myself out for a nice lunch. I am truly amazed and happy.
I applied to Boca for the residency a week ago. Their deadline is in six days, so I have six days to produce draft 1-B to submit to them to, hopefully, help convince them to choose me.
I’m very happy with 1A. I say that knowing that 1-B will be better and smoother and that by the time I start the residency — if I get it — that I’ll have draft 2 by then — and it will be the result of a reading with, and feedback from, actors. It's draft two because it will incorporate objective input.
