Sun Dried Laundry

Monday began slightly overcast. There was lots of blue sky, but it felt like our day would not be as hot and bright as glorious Sunday. Regardless, I got directly to chores, beginning with sweeping the front porch and all the cobwebs off the window frames in the front yard. I cleaned up the cattery, lit a small fire because I did a laundry, and I air dry it. And to cap off the morning, I vacuumed everywhere. God bless prednisone (but I don’t take it anymore).

Then, after a quick shower, Her Highness and I were off to meet our friends to walk our doggies in the forest. And when we got home, it was time to water all the garden beds. It took forever, but it felt good to do. That’s all I did all day, was water. I did a thorough soaking of everything as the soil is rapidly losing all its moisture. However, we may get a sprinkle of rain tomorrow, and rain is predicted for Sunday and Monday.

It's clear I don’t need a gardener. Henri did a great job of cleaning up my beds before he left, and I find that I can do maintenance just fine. I can keep the lawns trimmed until they burn in the sun, and weeding is also within my capabilities, so all is a go for the Summer.

Today I plan to change the Deer fencing protecting the Virginia Creeper on the north-west wall of the house. And I may also move a container from the yard to the edible garden for another tomato plant, and there’s the driveway to rake. Otherwise, I am keeping up with things, inside and outside, and it’s a huge relief to find that I can do it.

Today’s treat: I’ve hung all my bedding outside to dry. Tonight, when I climb into bed, I will smell the sweet smell of the forest in my sheets and pillowcases.
