Wednesday dawned bright and sunny. I was not keen for the day to get underway as I had a lot of wood to move, and before I could move it, I had to move about 35 old containers of paint left by the previous owner of Pinecone Park so that I had space to stack the wood. I needed to move the seasoned dry wood from where it was so that it remained available to me and not blocked in by all the incoming wet wood that was delivered yesterday. Sigh.
But before getting to that job, I walked Her Highness and then called the clinic to get a time for my appointment with nurse practitioner Jennifer. Then it was time to start stacking wood. Sigh. But it wasn’t too demanding a job. All I had to do was move a lot of wood from along the back wall of the shed, to along a side wall. It was hard getting going, but once I found my rhythm I was able to work for 45 minutes without needing a rest. And I got a great start on the job, huffing and puffing all the time.
I quit stacking 15 minutes before the wood delivery was due and I laid down a huge tarpaulin on the driveway for them to dump the wood onto, and then I covered the massive pile of wood with a second tarpaulin to keep it dry until Grayson or someone else that I hire, comes to stack it in the shed. As of tomorrow, we expect several sunny days, so I hope to see the work done starting tomorrow.
By then, I was heaving for air and totally pooped, so I came in for a nice warm and refreshing shower before heading off to see Jennifer at the clinic at 2:00. After seeing her, we went into the village to do some shopping, and we stopped off at Rollo Park on the way home to play fetch.
The breathing question is over. I had a good talk with Jennifer after she read my letter. She agrees with Dr. Chen, and she explained why. So, she gave me a new prescription for my two inhalers. I will be using my inhalers before every dog walk, and before doing anything physical like moving wood.
Even with treatment, people are still dying of asthma. I’ve had a pretty good go of life. My asthma started when I was thirteen, but it progressed slowly. When the attacks started happening, after the third one, instead of treating me in emergency with a nebulizer, they sent me to the Pacific Lung Clinic, and I’ve been a patient there ever since. It was my doctor at the clinic who said it was not my lungs. Jennifer agreed with him, too. So, both systems are a go.
I’m going to start using them today, and I’ll see how it goes. I don’t expect to be able to breath like I did before last May, but I may breathe better than I do now when I exert myself. I was prepared for this outcome. I’m glad to end the search and all the worrying and questioning. I’ll have been living with this diminished breathing for a year in May.
Last night I watched two plays on the National Theatre at Home streaming service. I love that I can live on this island in the Salish Sea and yet watch excellent London theatre in my living room. That, and legalization of marijuana, the AIDS cocktail, and gay marriage are my four miracles.
Today is dry but overcast and my body is aching from the wood stacking I did yesterday. Last night, I had vicious cramps in my forearms and hands, so today I’ll be chillin’ after a very productive day yesterday.

Trump cancels tariffs and guess what. Stocks take off! I wonder who bought a shitload of stock during the market dive and now are mega richer.
