Tuesday, we went for our morning walk just in time. It was raining, but nothing like the rain that came down once we were home. It was a bit like being in a factory the rain was making so much noise on my metal roof. I loved it! I love that we’re all so warm and dry and cozy while absolutely buckets of rain are falling outside.
It didn’t last long. We were soon back to endless drizzling, and that was fine by me. I had no ambition to work outside, so I did a little napping and then I decided to try reading something other than Nick Herron. Mr. Herron is too clever by far for me. I need something like David Sedaris to read. He, too, is clever but his books are linear whereas Mr. Herron I find to be a far more demanding read.
I called the clinic where Jennifer, my nurse practitioner, works, to ask for an appointment. I called prepared to get a date in a month. The receptionist asked me what was going on, and I told her how the lung specialist said my problem was my heart, and my heart specialist said the problem is with my lungs, and the receptionist told me to call this morning at 9:00 and she would get me an appointment with Jennifer today!!! Huzzah!
Suddenly and unexpectedly, at mid-day, the sky brightened, cleared and the sun came out. I called Her Highness and got my coat on, and we went immediately to Rollo Park which is about a 5-minute drive. By the time we got there, it was raining, and the sky was overcast. Classic Spring weather. But I exhausted her, which was my plan, and I threw the ball with my right hand for the first time in 11 months. I ruined my shoulder last year throwing the ball and it hurt like mad and took forever to heal.
Late in the day, Bob Rooks called me. He is delivering the three cords of wood I ordered today. That means that I must move some wood from the shed that I have been using for firewood so that the new wet wood can go in. If I don’t move the dry wood, it will become inaccessible to me. I may try to find someone to hire who’s less expensive than Grayson who is busy with other clients.
But first, I will call Jennifer. It’s going to be a sunny and busy day at Pinecone Park.
