Sunday, Oh Sunday! My day to do as I like. And this particular My Day is special because I don’t have a hospital appointment. It was a cold day with overcast skies, so I am Kept the fire at a roar.
I did chores all morning, and then Her Highness and I did out regular walk on trail #6. Enough people have walked the trail to create a path of hard-packed snow that was easy for me to walk on. And then we came home for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation. I started reading Mick Herron’s series, Slow Horses.
We took a second walk in the afternoon. My God it was cold, and I loathe being cold. But the evening was a fine one! We had a nice big fire and I had the last of my delicious stir fry.
There hasn’t been more snow really, since the big dump on February 3rd. Its bright and sunny today and cold. There’ll be walks and more reading, and lots of hoping for good news from all the recent medical tests.
I had a major thrill this past week. The plant that has such huge leaves in my garden has bloomed. It’s called Butterbur, and I had no idea that it bloomed in Winter. Now the bloom is covered in snow, but when the snow is gone, I shall take a photo to share because it’s such an unusual bloom.
The second thrill was to come upon my Camellia absolutely chuck full of buds. There will be a magnificent display of blossoms in Spring. I bought it as a mere twig for fifty cents at a yard sale when I first moved here, and I’ve been faithfully watering and fertilizing it ever since. This year, seven years after planting it, I will be magnificently rewarded.
