Oh, Saturday. With both Sheba and I in a damaged state, we spent a very slow and cozy day with the kitties by the fire. My neck is still quite painful, and Sheba has one very sore foot. So, we chilled all day. I never even got dressed all day; that’s the kind of day I love.
The snow began melting. It didn’t rain all day, but there was some drizzle in the morning. The temperature stayed above zero all day. Woo hoo! And Sheba didn’t whimper once, all day. I was terribly glad. We are incredibly attached to each other; we’re rarely apart. To watch her on Friday, after her biopsy, was painful. I, on the other hand, felt worse on Friday than I did on Thursday. I’m living in a good-days, bad days, situation. I wore my collar all day Saturday.
The rains came at 6:30 and they’ll be here, off and on, for the coming week. But it’s going to be 8°-10° all week and I’m very glad of that. It doesn’t really matter to us right now; Sheba goes out to go to the bathroom and comes right back in, and we spend all the rest of the day indoors.
I value getting a break from walking Her Highness. I like not having to make myself run out of breath. All my wood toting has been going smoothly because I am careful about how much weight I carry, so I’ve been really enjoying several days in a row without any shortness of breath. I feel safer not pushing myself
And Sunday was just like Saturday, except Sheba is a little more mobile each day. She is such a wonder. When she wants to go out to void, she walks to the front door and holds up her damaged foot for me to encase in plastic so that her bandage doesn’t get wet. I don’t even have to ask her to raise her foot.
Stacy came by on Sunday at noon with food. She brought me leftovers from the dinner party I had to pass on. Oh my goodness, it felt great to have such delicious food for lunch and dinner. Yum!
So far this holiday Monday, all I want to do is sleep. But I’m doing chores and trying life without a collar.
