A Perfect My Day

I awoke at 4:30 on Sunday and rose at 5:00. There were red glowing embers in the firebox when I got up. The last piece of wood I’d put on the fire last night just smoldered through the night and kept the house warm. It was a lovely way to wake up after a deep and very satisfying sleep. It was going to be a long day!

It wasn’t light until after 7:00, but once there was light I decided to go out and have a lovely long soak in the spa. It’s such a lovely way to begin the day in the quiet of early morning, and then I can follow that experience up with a nice brisk morning walk with Her Highness. Yesterday was my first day off prednisone, but the effect of the drug is supposed to last thanks to Tezspire.

Outside, I get a big thrill from seeing the clover germinating all over a large section of the yard. It thrills me to think, to hope that this clover will thrive as successfully as has the clover in Ursula and David’s yard. And inside, the house is pristinely clean, and that too is thrilling on My Day. I have a very, very gentle week ahead of me, then next weekend Dianne and Beverly arrive for Thanksgiving, but they are doing the cooking for our celebratory dinner, and other meals will be pizza or going out.

It was 10° yesterday morning. That is almost the average temperature of our wet and cold season. But the bright sunshine promises a lovely afternoon. Our walk was, as always, lovely. We walked the long Ricki trail because on prednisone, I can make the hill. We walked at a nice slow pace for There’ll be lots of walking.

When we got home, I fed everyone and then made some blueberry pop tarts to take to our group morning dog walk today. It’s Regina’s birthday, and I’m very fond of her so I wanted to make her something special for her day!

Mid-afternoon, Her Highness and I went to Elder Cedar to walk. Even though I don’t need to, I very much enjoy slow walking. It was lovely walking. I was comfy warm in my hoodie and when we came home, on impulse, I stopped to pick up a hitchhiker. Nicholas was a very handsome and friendly young man. I drove him into the Commons to go to the Apple Fair.

I never pick up hitchhikers because of my speech. But my speech is now so much better, I decided to pick him up and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him. I dropped him off at the Commons and then came back home to have another spa and then to make the last of the roti from last night. And whoa! Making roti was much, much easier after a second night in the fridge. I’m going to do the same thing next time, over two days.

The evening at home was as good as life gets. First: prednisone had me breathing wonderfully. Second, my beloved pets. We’ve all become so close. I’m blessed by my lovelies every day. And the fire. Just a small one, but it’s like turning on serenity. I watched a movie about three Parisian kids sent to live with their grandfather on his olive plantation in Provence. I loved hearing the language and seeing the scenery. It was a perfect movie for me.

Two lovely walks, without limping, in glorious weather. Heaven. I was on the couch when neighbours Hugh and Lynn came by with their dog Charlie. They are new to our hood, and warm and friendly. Hugh looks like he stepped out of a Ralph Laren walkway show. They’re from San Francisco, via many places. They want to have me over.

Today, we’ll walk with our group, and I’ll take the blueberry pop tarts I made because it’s Regina’s birthday. Then, who knows? Maybe some garden work on the pathway. I’d enjoy that.
