My new iPhone is broken. I’ve only had it for just over a month. I called Apple Care and it was an awful experience. The person who ‘helped’ me was useless; she seemed under-trained. She suggested it was the carrier’s fault, but I cannot talk to anyone on Koodo and their AI chat service is infuriating. So, I called Dave. He’s an island computer expert who’s a gem of a guy.
I was committed to non-over-indulgence yesterday, knowing that I was in store for a big Thanksgiving meal in the evening. I was up early, of course, and I blessed Beverly who’d done all the dishes. Until my guests rose, I was challenged to keep Fred from howling all the time and waking them. He was in a loud mood yesterday morning.
When I went outside for wood, it was 5°! Shizah! But it encouraged me to get busy right away lighting a fire. Di and Bev rose around 8:00 and we decided not to join my friends on the dog walk and instead go to Drumbeg when we were ready.
It was heavenly at Drumbeg. There were more people there than I have ever seen before, but it’s a holiday and stunningly sunny. We walked slowly, often stopping to tell a story, and we stopped to chat to people that we met who had dogs, and it was an ideal perfect day. I felt incredibly happy to be alive and to be living on such a beautiful island.
We were probably two hours at Drumbeg, so when we got home, we quickly had a very minimalist lunch and then Di and Bev got busy with the turkey, and I chilled. However, one thing I must mention, is that Bev gifted me with pumpkin butter and fig butter from Trader Joe’s, and oh my God, are they good!!! The pumpkin butter will not last long!
The bird went in a little late. We didn’t finish prepping it until 3:00, and I was very excited to see a whole turkey going into the oven. I was thinking about leftovers when Bev and Di leave. But although it was late into the oven, the bird was done by 17:00. And what a fabulous meal it made! Everyone loved the tian and Di’s stuffing was delicious. The bird was perfectly done. We had the most wonderful Thanksgiving. And then we watched a movie, but I opted out when Dwight called, and we had a lovely long chat.
Today we’ll likely go for a walk in the meadow Di and I love to walk around, we’ll have leftovers for lunch and then Di and Bev will leave just past 15:30. Tonight, I expect to eat dinner with Kelly, Jay’s sister, at The Surf.
