Friday began with trail walking with my friends and our dogs under lightly overcast skies and 13° temperatures. And although rain was predicted for the afternoon, when I got home from our walk, I watered the edible garden beds and the front yard trees and bed thoroughly because I thought the showers would be light. All the other beds were wet from my watering on Thursday.
When all the watering was finished, I picked up souvenirs left by Sheba and Sosa (our canine neighbour) that were deposited in various places around the backyard. I don’t like to pull weeds, rake or weed whack when there are souvenirs scattered about. And then I got busy pulling weeds, but it’s very hard on my back. So, after about half an hour of weeding, I came in to read. I am really enjoying Margaret Visser’s wonderful book!
As is my wont of late, I went to bed early and slept well, but I always get up often to pee and each time I did, I heard no sound of rain on the roof. We are desperate for rain here. But when I woke up this morning, everything was soaking wet, and it was still raining. And it was a good, long rain. I checked the bucket I left out and it had lots of water in it.
Today I will go to the market and hope that Kenny is there. If he is, I’ll get a couple of chow mein dinners and one mango salad. I love his food. And then I’ll come home to read by a small fire and not have to cook all day. All meals will be on Kenny (I hope!).
