The clear skies bring foggy damp mornings, but once the fog burns off, we get gorgeous Winter sunshine. I did laundry in the morning, some vacuuming and general tidying and cleaning up before Her Highness and I went for our morning walk. I am sick of vacuuming but I hate seeing Fir needles everywhere so I vacuum daily.
Our walk was long because I like to do the long walk in the morning after my foot has had a long night of recovery. By the end of the day the swelling is much larger and walking is more painful, so that’s when I want to do a short walk. When we got back, Sheba came with me into the village to fetch some groceries, then we had lunch. After that, I puttered around the house until it was time to Zoom with my theatre friends.
After our Zoom call, which was a lot of fun, we went for our second walk. Both of us were keen to get back home; me for warmth, and her for food because when we got back it was time for dinner.
For Beth: Last night I watched The Summer Book. It’s the most beautiful film. The cinematographer should win awards, but this is a quiet calm movie that shot in a stunning location. The story is set on a small island in the Gulf of Finland. This story is so beautifully told, it puts 98% of films released to shame. The script is wonderful, and the film’s second lead is a talented and wonderful young actor who is around eight years old. Everything she says feels real; she’s a bright young soul. Oh, I wish I could see a lot of movies like this one.
After the movie, I did some writing and before I knew it, it was 23:00. I haven’t stayed up that long in years, but I was having a very good time writing. I’m writing short essays about what else, my life and I like what’s happening a lot. I am done with publishing, but I’m enjoying putting a book of essays together.
Today will be another sunny day. I dread the thought of snow come Saturday night. That’s the current prediction, but here in the rain shadow of the big island, we might get rain. Fingers crossed.
