I’ve got a large and painful bump on my left Achillies tendon. When I wake up in the morning, it’s verypainful and difficult to walk, but once I get going, the pain subsides, and I regain more flexibility. It’s one thing after another, and I’m tired of always having to seek medical advice. It’s been bothering me for several days, and it’s growing. Pooey!
Wearing shoes hurts the bump, but at least with watering, it’s mostly just standing around. I started early when it was nice and cool, and I’d watered all the beds and trees by 8:15. I had all the rest of the day to putter at things needing doing. But first I went to meet my friends for our walk.
When the walk was done, I headed into the village to do my grocery shopping and then I came home to do chores. I screwed the anti-slip plates I have for the deck back in place; we’d removed them so Pete could sand and stain parts of the deck damaged during Winter. And then I got to work harvesting blueberries. There were a ton to pick.
It had clouded over at 10:00 am, so I was thrilled. It meant all my watering would not evaporate quickly, and it also meant that I could chill. I didn’t feel a burning need to work or to do a second spot watering in the afternoon. But then the sky cleared, and I melted as I was harvesting the blueberries, so I decided to wait to harvest them once the bushes were in shade.
Our second walk of the day was short. It was too hot to consider anything longer than 20 minutes, so we walked in a cool section of the 707 Park. And last night, I went to bed very early.
This morning is, of course, bright and hot. When I went out to water at 6:30, it as already 25°! But I felt very happy as I watered. I’ve found that doing it first thing in the morning in the cool morning air is the way to go. I’m off now, to walk Sheba, then it’ll be back to watering and then puttering around the beds.
