Sheba's in Treatment

Twin Cedars, the veterinary clinic on the island, called while I was out to say that they had medication for me to pick up. That means something was found in the stool sample, and now we can fix whatever is wrong. I am very relieved, especially considering the fecal Jackson Pollacks of yesterday morning.

We walked with our friends in the morning, and then we came home to wait for Jake. He came and was here for quite a while. I have a new gasket and so we both hope it works. If not, he has a plan C: putting silicone around the gasket. That’s next if what he has done today fails. Or I get a new fridge.

When Jake left, we went to the vet’s place to get the medicine Sheba needs. She has an intestinal infection and so I’ve a very expensive medication to give her that looks like crap. Hesitatingly, I checked the freezer. Everything looked good. There was no ice. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I left Sheba at home when I went into the village to meet up with Stacy and Bryce at Burro Rosa. It was a very comfortable 25° when I departed. I really liked the new restaurant, but it is expensive to make a meal of tapas. We were there just for appies and a drink to toast our dearly departed Otis.

I was glad to get home and to get the first dose of medication into Her Highness. She took it all. I was thrilled. And then we settled into our regular evening routine on a stunning night. It is nice and fresh in the house, but it is hot outside. I am in a constant state of bliss. I get rushes of happiness due to the light, the site of a rooster on the road, the empty streets at dinnertime, the quiet calm of the golden hour.

I reckon Fred’s going to be going to the vet’s next. He seems to feel pain prior to having a bowel movement. He howls and it’s heartbreaking. I’m just waiting to see if last night was a one-of or if it happens again.

When I opened the door to let Sheba in, the heat rolled over me. It felt like I was in the tropics, especially with my glorious Fuchsias in full magnificence. It was a lovely evening, but if I go outside to enjoy it, I will soon have wasps all around me. But it’s lovely to stroll about. If I stay on the move, the wasps don’t bother me.

F*ck, there’s nothing but endless sunshine in the forecast. I’ll be watering a lot, but now I can water every second day instead of every day. We’ll go to the farmers’ market this morning and I’ll water everything. It’s going to be a nice lazy day. I gave Sheba her second dose of medicine this morning, and of course, I checked the freezer and it’s working excellently. Woo hoo!
