By 7:30, the thick overhead cloud of early morning was dissipating, and it was clear that we were in for the last good day of Summer as promised. I had a spa and then got to work in the yard. I did some raking, making more piles that I hope Colleen will tote, and I started harvesting all the Campion stalks.
Colleen was due at 9:300, but she didn’t arrive, so I continued with the Campion and pruning Hydrangeas while I waited for her. I could do this easy working all day every day forever if only the weather would co-operate. I loved yesterday because it was doing actual chores that I wanted done, and not watering. She soon arrived and we got to work together. I really enjoyed that.
I was chuffed by the working morning. I really was pleased that I could do a lot of work that easily integrated with Colleen. I can work in the yard and leave all the crap for her to take to the dump behind the fence. I like feeling involved and part of the human force tending to my floral babies.
We worked together for two hours, and we got a lot done! I’m thrilled with how nice Pinecone Park is looking. We got started on cutting the Spanish Moss lining the sides of my pathway, to transplant into the cracks between the stepping stones. The path is going to look spectacular when we do more. It’s something I can do on my own, so progress is pending.
When Colleen left, I fed the brood lunch, and then Sheba and I went into the village to fetch a prescription and some eggs. And then we went for a walk. It’s evident that her foot is better, but when I removed her sock, she started licking her foot, so I put the sock back on. I will up her prednisone dosage today to help her get past whatever is going on with the one foot.
I was beat by the time we got home. I was out working in the yard very early to get a head start on the raking, so after four hours of working and another hour of shopping and dish washing, I was ready for a good long rest.
So far, I’ve received two calls on my cell. Both were Dwight. My wrist jiggles (the Apple watch) and my phone rings when he or Steve call. I’ve made several calls to them, and I still do the wrong thing when I want to hang up. I have Old Dog Syndrome. I’m trying, I’m trying.
Today is going to be a lovely day. And the rain predicted for tomorrow is not happening now. Clouds are forecast from Monday and for several days thereafter, and there’ll be showers. I shall be working on the pathway, transplanting bits of Spanish Moss into the cracks between the stepping stones.
My wonderful family:
