Yay Paula

Sheba and I left the house early to fetch Paula. We took a short walk in the 707 Park and then we played fetch for a while at Silva Bay before heading down onto the dock and the tiny terminal office of the float plane company. Jeanette is their office manager, and I’ve known her for years, so we had a good chin wag while we waited for the flight to arrive.

Paula left Vancouver under dark cloudy skies and arrived here to bright, clear sunny skies, and so we stopped at Elder Cedar to walk Sheba some more because once we got home, after a brief period of settling in and touring the garden, we went to the Surf for lunch.

We ate indoors because the wind made it a bit chilly outside, but we had a window seat overlooking the sea that was churning with whitecaps. We each had a small Caesar salad, and we shared a calamari appetizer. It was a perfect lunch. Paula loved it and she loved being away from work and working on her home in Point Roberts (USA). She felt wonderfully relaxed.

When we got home, we had a nap on loungers in the sunshine, but I didn’t last long. The sun was too hot. So, I came inside and baked the plumb cake for which I’d prepped all the materials in the early morning. And while I did that, Paula relaxed on the deck with her novel.

We took Sheba for her afternoon walk and then Paula retreated to her comfy perch on the deck with a drink, a smoke and her book, and I made us a batch of Lahksa and then we sat down to choose a movie to watch together. Half-way through the movie, we paused to get ourselves a bowl of Lahksa and then we finished the movie.

When the movie finished, we went outside to sit and chat. It was really nice because it was a lovely warm evening, the fountain was tinkling, there were birds everywhere and we had lots to talk about. It was a very, very nice catch-up for us, and then we went indoors, got ourselves a piece of plum cake (which is more like a tart), and we watched another movie that had be frequently falling asleep. They we were off to bed.

Today is bright and clear. There is still no rain at all in the forecast. We’ve had only two days with some rain since early May!
