Whoa, Monday was one busy day.
I left here at 7:20 to go to the medical lab that opened at eight. I got there at 7:30 and I was sixth in line! I got out at 9:10 and raced home to fetch Sheba and get to our friends walking the Windercker trail for departure at 9:30.
We walked for an hour, and when we got home, Pete’s ladder and blower were in the driveway, so I got my extension rake and started cleaning one side of the studio roof and one side of the shed roof. Pete arrived just as I finished. I think he was impressed that I’d done so much on my own.
He got to work on the house, and I focused on cleaning up the crap that came off the roof. I’d load the barrow, and he’d tote it. I tried to be as assistive as I could, and then Sandi arrived to visit at 13:00. I took her to see Pete’s Paulownia tree that is doing so much better than her’s; both were planted in the same year.
Allie arrived, Pete’s partner, and I made them lunch. I made them cheese, tomato, basil, and mushroom sandwiches with red pepper aioli, and they were a huge hit with my vegetarian friends. I served cookies and Sandi had a beer, Pete and Allie had tea and we all had a really lovely, serendipitous visit.
The ladies left and Pete went back to work. I had a brief rest in the house and then got back to work cleaning up all the crap that came off the roof. And that was our entire afternoon: Pete on the roof, me cleaning up on the ground, but at 15:00, things got nasty. I started seizing and I had three in a row. The last one went on and on, so I came in to rest and hydrate.
Then back out to do more cleaning up and helping Pete. Allie came back with beets (I love beets) and some curry carrot soup that she’d made. Dinner! When we finished just past 17:00, I came inside, walking at a glacially slow pace, fed the brood, heated up the soup and the beets Allie had cooked, and had my dinner. I was so beat and wiped out by the seizures, I was very grateful to not have to make dinner.
I fell asleep watching TV and awoke at 20:30! My back was killing me from sleeping in a bad position, so I went to directly to bed. What a day! My roofs are nice and clean though, and ready for Winter.
This morning, I rose to clear skies and cool temperatures. I wanted to light the fire because it’s quite chilly in the house, but soon I’ll be walking, then I’ll be finishing cleaning up the detritus on the courtyard from cleaning the studio and shed roofs. Plus, I’ll need to water the garden beds. Perhaps not everything, I’ll see later today. I also plan to nap in the sunshine. That’ll warm me up.
