The Loft Is Clean and Empty

We were out for a short walk at 7:30 yesterday morning. It was cold (3°), but there was lots of blue sky, and we had some sunshine as we walked. Driving home, seeing the big patches of blue sky and the gorgeous colour of sunlight on the clouds was breathtaking. I feel as though I might be phototropic.

I walked early, because I left Sheba at home and I went into the village to have breakfast with Stacy and Bryce. It’s always wonderful to see Stace. She is a dear, dear new friend, and I love her. Bryce, I don’t know as well, but I like him a lot too. He’s a retired judge. Stace is a physician.

When I got home, I decided to do a run to GIRO. I had stuff to drop off for recycling, and I had stuff for their shop. I wasn’t certain that everything would be accepted, but it was and I was thrilled. Every day, there is a little less clutter at Pinecone Park. When we got back home, it was loft time. It was easy to get back to it because the worst is over and I knew that I would finish the job in a couple of hours work.

I finished before lunchtime, and so I rested for fifteen minutes, fed the brood, and then went back to GIRO and The Gabe Shop with more stuff to donate to sell, or for recycling. I was really chuffed as I came home. I’ve done a shitload of work over the past week for SPACE and all the disposing of things that I’ve done will make a lot less work for Dwight as my executor.

When I came home, I read for a while to give my foot a rest. Friday was the worst bone spur day so far. My entire left foot was swollen, and it was very painful whether I was walking or resting. Consequently, I took two Ibuprofen before bed, and it helped. I felt much better today. Then, after reading a couple of wonderful chapters, Her Highness and I went for a lovely long walk in the spectacular sunshine.

On the trail, we ran into a fellow we’ve encountered many times. He gets his water by collecting rainwater, and he told me that his cistern, which is usually full at this time of year, is only 40% full this year. I was not surprised. The stream that runs through Elder Cedar is at a trickle. We’ve had a very dry Winter, and no snow. But this week will be a good one for the fellow, because we have rain predicted every day for the coming eight days. But the weather forecast is really for Nanaimo airport, and we get far less rain than the big island.

When we got home, Her Highness collapsed on the floor. She was thoroughly fatigued after her third walk of the day. I read another couple of chapters before dinner. And good news: I got a message via Facebook that someone wants to buy my countertop induction burner.

The evening was the usual evening, but I had The Importance of Being Earnest to watch on YouTube. It’s a fun production of a trivial play, and it’s free on YouTube for a week. I was ready to go to bed at 18:30! But I was very happy to have the show to watch even though I was wasted with fatigue. However, today is My Day. I am not doing any heavy work today. I will watch three videos this morning made by YouTube vloggers to whom I subscribe, and I have a SPACE board meeting on Zoom, and the rest of the day to do as I please. I have earned a nice day to myself. Tonight, the Oscars (maybe) and tomorrow, I start on the closets.
