My Day Turns Productive

After a few years of having roughly twenty people read my blog about nothing, it’s now regularly more like sixty people viewing each day. It must be the photos that people like. Anyway, by eight in the morning it was obvious that we were in for another sunny day. I’d been counting on rain. Damn!

I was out early fixing the fountain, and all the birds are very happy with me. They can drink and bathe and it’s all clean and flowing a little stronger. Also, the bees are happy. I’ve rearranged the rocks, making it easier for them to drink. And once done, Sheba and I went off for a walk in Elder Cedar before it got hot.

When we got home, I got to work transplanting Spanish Moss into the cracks of my pathway. I loved doing the work, but it’s a challenge getting the weeds out of the cracks. However, it was not at all strenuous and the reward, when I was done, made all the bending over worthwhile. It’s really coming along, the pathway. I’ll do more work on it today, but I also must water and we’ll be walking in the morning with our friends.

At 16:00, I called it a day. I was pooped. It felt wonderful to come into the cool interior of my home, and to sit down with my feet up. Oh, the joy. It’s going to be nice all week. I’m super glad that we’ll have good weather when Paula is here. She wants to work, so I’ll get her to help me do something practical while she is here.

I’m so chuffed about losing four pounds this past week. I’m hoping to lose the same amount again this week. That’s probably unlikely, but maybe I’ll lose a couple of pounds. I’m good at dieting, but not good at keeping the weight off. This time, though, I may be able to do it.

This morning is cloudy, but that’s been the norm of late, and then it clears, and we have another sunny day, and I have more watering to do. We’re walking with our dog walking group this morning, before I start watering. I also hope to do more work on the pathway, but that may not happen.

Tomorrow, Paula comes for two days. I’m excited!

I like the pictures, Chris, but I read your blog even when you weren't able to publish pictures. I find your blog gentle, grounding, funny, sad, joyful. Reading your blog is one of the first things I do and has become part of my morning routine. It always takes me to a good place. Even when there's sadness or anger, it's real and relatable. I am very grateful for your blog and of course to you for sharing your life, your home, your garden, your furry family, your people, with those of us who have been fortunate enough to discover you. I feel sometimes like you have become a friend who I might never meet, but a friend nevertheless. Every time I do go to Gabriola, I harbour a wish to accidentally run into you and shake your hand or maybe even give you a hug. Thank you for the gift of your blog. Pets and loves to Sheba, Fred and Ethel.
