Friday turned nice in the afternoon. We had clear blue sky and so I decided to fill the air with smoke. I burned a lot of forest fall in my new burn barrel, and slowly the huge pile of twigs, branches and cones is disappearing.
My friend B. wrote to propose getting together. We’ve been pals since high school. I suggested me meet on the 27th, after my echocardiogram. That worked for her, but then yesterday, I called her to make a change in our plans because the time of the test is subject to change. Instead, I suggested we meet this coming Wednesday. She was keen for that, and then this morning I got an email confirming lunch at 1:30 on the 27th.
I’ve a strong sense of déjà vu. B. is reminding me of another friend whose memory seemed to be fading, and that friend now is ‘gone’ to us and living in a care home. I reckon B. will soon have a similar need for care, but she has several children and siblings who may come to her aid.

Two nights, no pee!

Saturday began with a certain disappointment. I was up early, at five. I fed us all and lit the fire and then lay down on the couch for a nap. After the nap, I did a laundry and some other light chores, and then I went back to bed. When I got up, I showered and took Her Highness for a walk through the Elder Cedar grove, and when I got home, I wanted another nap. I did take my third nap, and then we had lunch. I was constantly yawning and tired. Hopefully, soon this endless fatigue will be gone.
In the afternoon, because it was so gloriously mild and sunny, I decided we’d go all the way south to Drumbeg Park. It was my first visit to the park since the bomb cyclone and what a change awaited me. There were trees downed everywhere. I’d say a good 40% of the park’s trees were on the ground. It was shocking, but it remains a stunningly beautiful place to be. I loved our walk there.
The evening was slow and gentle. I stayed up surprisingly late for me, and I had a great deep and long sleep. This morning, more sun and more mild temperatures, so we went back to Elder Cedar again for our morning walk. It was inspiring to be outdoors on such a beautiful morning. I felt so, so lucky and happy to be living on this paradise island.
