Tech Challenge

Friday was a challenge for Her Highness. The latest foot she damaged is really hurting her. She was not at all keen to be on her feet yesterday, so we spent a glorious sunny day indoors, both of us, I think, wishing we could be outside walking at Drumbeg. Time passed extremely slowly.

At 1:30 it was 14° outside and it felt heavenly. I really wanted to be working outside, but I felt obliged to stay with Sheba and monitor her to make sure that she did not go after another foot.

My new Rogers equipment arrived today. I dreaded the task ahead of me: I had to unhook my current modem and television PVR, and hook up the new equipment, plus had to reconfigure the new equipment to my new network name and password.

I got help from a Rogers technician for part of the conversion because the manual assumes that I have a cell phone and can download the app that operates my new equipment. I don’t have a cell phone, and the directions didn’t provide information on how to proceed if one hasn’t a cell. By the time I was finished, and everything was working, I was a sweating mess of a man, but it was done.

The new equipment has changed what I see. Dark scenes are darker, and the bright scenes are pixel perfect. Everything is very clear and clean. Not only that, but my computer is working much faster. It’s all very, very good.

Today’s dawned as did yesterday. It’s a brilliant, beautiful morning, but judging from Sheba’s short walk from the bed to the couch, we won’t be walking today. But I’m not crashing onto the couch. I’m doing cleaning and tidying today, and I expect to take a large load of stuff to GIRO, our recycling centre.

Two more sleeps until Dr. Chen.
