Friday was a day to be idle. After a couple of days of endless labour, I took yesterday off to chill and to read. It’s such a privilege to be able to spend an entire day feeling absolutely no pressure to do anything. There were, of course, dog walks, but the rest of the day was wonderfully easy.
Yesterday was my first pain-free day in my shoulder. The injury can still hurt like crazy if I put my arm in the ‘wrong’ position, but yesterday was pain free. It’s worst when I lie down, so being on my feet or sitting all day is wonderfully comfortable.
For a treat yesterday, I went into the village for lunch at Ground Up, and it was really cool because the woman at the till knows that I can’t speak, so when it was my turn in line to order, she signed to me. I taught her the signs for ‘burger’ and ‘French fries’ as that was my order. I’ll never be nervous about going there on my own again.
The rain is back after a glorious day yesterday. It’s very wet today, so today will be another day like yesterday, but I’m meeting Paula for coffee this morning and that will be lots of fun. She’s such a great gal!
The postal strike is going to hold up receipt of my books—one by my friend Beth, the other another Richard Osman. Pooey!
