Socializing!

I’m may be sick, but I loved reading this article in The Guardian about the hypocrisy of Justin Trudeau. Hypocrisy is even more disgusting to me than lying—Trump’s favourite activity. That’s also why I loathe Hillary Clinton. She and Trudeau are opportunistic two-faced phonies. All of them, addicted to power. Having power is all that matters.
Here’s a quotation from the article:
“Canada … elected a government that believes the climate crisis is real and dangerous – and with good reason, since the nation’s Arctic territories give it a front-row seat to the fastest warming on Earth. Yet the country’s leaders seem likely in the next few weeks to approve a vast new tar sands mine which [sic] will pour carbon into the atmosphere through the 2060s. They know – yet they can’t bring themselves to act on the knowledge. Now that is cause for despair.”

Tomorrow night, the Turners, three siblings, are coming to dinner. Tomorrow is also the end of my fifth week without Marijuana, so I thought I might have some as a party favour. But I’m not going to. Instead, I got a couple of bottles of Proseco and I’m going to really enjoy my first drug-induced escape in a long time.
I’m really happy to find my resolve to avoid Marijuana is so strong. And another thing, I’ve been successful with another goal: I haven’t had any cookies, cake or pie for a week. I am, however, making Pavolva for the dinner party. I’m allowing myself treats when I have company.
It feels so good to do well for myself—late in life, yes, but still good.
And tonight I’m going to Eoin’s and Francois’ to eat cassoulet. Yum!

Let’s send Jenny McCarthy and Robert Kennedy Jr. and all the other anti-vaccine ignoramuses and their families to Wuhan to work.

A Cool Damp Day on Gabriola

It snowed all day and last night but didn’t really stick—it’s wet. It’s supposed to rain for the rest of the week and then we’re predicted to get some sunny and cool days. More yard work.
Last night: No nightmares. Cathy, the mental health nurse, believes they will stop. It’s almost as though the anxiety that has disappeared from my days has retreated to the nights—but not every night, thank God.
I saw Cathy yesterday but I curtailed the weekly visits. I’m returning in two weeks and then, who knows. I may stop altogether because I feel so strong and stable.

I adored Howard’s End and am sad that it is over. I thought it was perfect entertainment, but my goodness the men come off poorly in that story (not that it matters).
I love Sanditon, too, more for the costumes, sets and its odd characters. It has nothing of the depth of Howard’s End, but I still look forward to it each week. Vienna Blood too; its quirky and I love crime dramas.

This gay man is amazed that a gay mayor with little public visibility and a very difficult name to remember or pronounce won the first Democratic primary. Go figure! Yes, the world is rotting with pollution, but there remain some things to celebrate.

Snow Again and I'm a bad Boy!

My beloved and late dog, Bela, having all his hair pulled off and then falling down three stories right in front of me; being afflicted, worse than ever, by anxiety and barely able to function in life: These were last night’s nightmares. No wonder I abused Marijuana; it made me sleep without nightmares. My anxiety is now much worse in the night than in the day.
When I awakened after the dream of being dreadfully incapacitated by anxiety symptoms, I worried today would be awful. It really shook me, that nightmare, but I am, as I have been for over two weeks, in great shape.
I think I’ll as Cathy today, when I see her, if she has any anti-nightmare pills I could have. (I’m kidding.)

I talked to my buddy, Bruce, last night and I mentioned that I’d had some good news.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Rush Limbaugh has cancer,” I replied.
“Isn’t that great!” he said.
“Super great,” I concurred.
I don’t remember every being happy someone was sick, but there are other outspoken intolerants for whom I wish the same fate. One down, though. (I’m a bad boy.)

Snow this morning; not much, but the trees and lawn are white. However, rain is predicted for tomorrow. There are days when rain is welcome!

Anna and Gunther are two lovely people with whom I walk in the afternoons in Rollo Park. I really like them. But yesterday I took my leave early as they got into a discussion about the Coronavirus being a conspiracy, the new hospital in Wuhan being fake Russian propaganda, etc. etc.

I’m two hundred pages into my second Franzen novel; there’s four hundred to go. And my third of his novels arrived yesterday in the post and it, too, is six hundred pages. What gives? Does he wonder what six hundred page novel I can write next?
