Patterns; Progress

I've hooked. And I have impressed my mentor, Dwight, with my approach. I am going to paint the lamp with paraffin hoping that the wax will serve as a base to hold the beads. Then, when I am done, I will Varathane the whole thing to hold the beads in place. The lamp is LED lit and does not produce any heat, so it should not affect the paraffin. I can hardly wait to start.

Doing the design—as you see it in the screen capture above—is so much fun! It takes quite a while and I make lots of mistakes, but it is fun like popping cells in bubble wrap.  When I look at the image above full size, I can see how many beads in each row I need to imbed in the wax. At least that is the plan.
