Tuesday's Walk was Fab-U-Lous!

Lucky me: I think every walk is the best one. Well, that every walk is fantastic, anyway. Today was no exception.

Having weighed in on Monday morning at 168.6, I freaked. Hence my long walk on Monday, fewer calories overall and only yogurt almonds for my essential sweet. Today — surprise! — it was not raining again so I was out the door at 1:30.

I had a hankering for walking west along Broadway, so I did. Then down Alma to a trail I know through Jericho Park to the Jericho Sailing Clubhouse. Then I did something that is unusual for me: I put my ear buds in and listened to music and I walked … slowly. I never walk slowly.

I meandered back into town along Kits beach and to Granville Island. Boy was that a smart idea. I loaded up on macadamia nuts for salads, got some delicious fresh organic watermelon, some saucisson sec, some tomato and basil salad to eat for lunch, two lovely fresh buns and ….

The tides are very high right now. Higher, I believe, than at any other time of the year. You can see that the seawall is at sea level in this photo. Only the wall is keeping the ocean from the wall of the Kitsiliano Pool.

The air is pungent right now. The winter flowering Jasmine is blooming everywhere. The City has planted it in all over the place and the air is sweet. The photos below are of, I think, two Daphne family Rhodo-like plants I passed that soon will be as fragrant as the Jasmine.

I got home at 2:45 and felt great as I tore into the salad. If it isn’t raining, I love winter walks — especially when the end someplace as stimulating as Granville Island.
